A flavorful blend of onion, bell pepper, celery, garlic and spices, Fiesta Brand Dirty Rice Seasoning gives you authentic Cajun-style flavor in the comfort of your own home.

Dirty rice is a traditional Cajun dish named for the “dirty” color white rice gets when it is cooked with vegetables or pieces of chicken liver. Though most commonly found in southern Louisiana, dirty rice is a popular dish found throughout the American South. To make your own dirty rice at home, heat 1 lbs. of your favorite meat in a large skillet then add 2 ½ cups of water and a tablespoon or two of butter. Stir in a cup of rice and 5 tablespoons Fiesta Brand Dirty Rice Seasoning when simmer until the rice is soft. Dirty rice makes a wonderful side dish for your favorite grilled meats or you can use it to stuff fresh vegetables like zucchini and bell peppers.

INGREDIENTS

Onion, Bell Pepper, Natural Flavor (Hydrolyzed Corn Gluten, Yeast Extract, Safflower Oil and Lactic Acid), Spices, Celery, Stalk, Garlic, Silicon Dioxide (Free Flow Agent) Sugar, Salt, Chili Peppers, Brown Sugar and Citric Acid.

RECIPES

DIRECTIONS: Use one pound of ground pork, beef or chicken. Brown meat and drain. Add 2¼ cups of water, one tablespoon of butter or margarine 1 cup of rice and 5 Tablespoons (1/3 jar) of River Road® Dirty Rice Seasoning. Stir until mixed. Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20-25 minutes or until rice is soft and liquid has been absorbed. Remove from heat, let sit for 5 minutes, fluff and enjoy! Makes an excellent stuffing for fowl or vegetables such as bell peppers or zucchini.
